  COMPANY PROFILE

PHILANA V. CAIN, IIDA
PRINCIPAL & CEO

Selective Interiors was established in April 1992 to provide project planning and interior design for residential and commercial clients. We discover, enhance and implement a client’s vision through detailed action plans to make their dreams a reality.

Discovering and meeting a client’s needs is the company’s specialty since the CEO, Philana Cain, understands the challenges of scarce resources and numerous responsibilities. As a testament to her ability to successfully juggle multiple needs, Ms. Cain simultaneously nurtured Selective Interiors while remaining a top performer for a fast-growing commercial furniture dealership located in the Sacramento Metropolitan Area.

During that time, Ms. Cain managed and developed several large accounts such as Cal Fed Bank, U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the City of Sacramento. Her ability to discover and meet client needs consistently generated revenues of $1 million – $1.5 million per year. Despite her success in the corporate arena, Ms. Cain believes it is void without community service.

As Director of the St. Paul Oak Park Community Outreach Academic Enrichment Center, Ms. Cain and the center’s staff, equip and empower children with the tools necessary for scholastic success. Furthermore, her desire for community involvement extends to some of the projects chosen for Selective Interiors.

The Roberts Family Development Center is Darrel and Tina Roberts’ vision for quality afterschool and day care in the Del Paso Heights community. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts are community activists with background ties to the Salvation Army and the NIA Birthing Project respectively. With Ms. Cain’s help, the Roberts changed a vintage Del Paso Heights residence into a vibrant environment, the Discovery Center, where children safely explore life and learn how to be community and world contributors.

The St. Hope Development Company is currently working with Selective Interiors in the Oak Park revitalization effort. The 40 Acres Cultural Center is the latest testament to this effort. Selective Interiors created the design for the bookstore, Underground Books, and provided creative input for other interiors within the center.

We’ve created various interiors and believe in creating spaces that work for you instead of “stamping our style” over your needs and desires. We not only use the best resources for your project, we build a customized project team through a network of knowledgeable people to accomplish your goals. Let us customize a team for your commercial or residential project today!
